// database case study
// the problem
Mezzo wanted to provide air passengers with pre-booked, portable, in-flight entertainment that's easier and more robust for airlines to keep up-to-date. They briefed Fathom to build a website and back-end system that linked online orders with ground services at airports across the UK.
// the solution
We wrote a database linked to a secure payment system so data entered online automatically triggers a:
- Web-based fax to ground handlers who print manifests and load the correct number of handsets and headphones on the appropriate flight
- Confirmation email to passengers which they present to the cabin crew after boarding, and receive their handsets and headphones
// the results
Our database system handles the complex logistics. It ensures the right number of handsets is available in the right places at the right time. It even allows for journeys with multiple routes and destinations. Passengers can book in advance to access the latest films, TV shows, music and games on their own personal handset, and make their journey really fly!
